Alan Young

On November 8, 2013 (Nov. 7th Hawaii time), Alan I.W. Young, CEO and owner of Young's Fish Market, passed away at age 60, while on vacation in Japan with wife, Jeanie, and friends. Alan was an avid golfer, active alumnus of St. Louis High, c/o '71, and a member of the Pali Lions Club. Known for his love and laughter, Alan was the greatest friend one could have. His answer to all requests and situations was "no problem". He loved to share stories and give out little pearls of wisdom. Alan and his sister Barbara took over Young’s Fish Market from their parents, Wilfred and Charlotte Young in the early 1980's. His son, Daniel, will be the third generation of Youngs to run the business and continue providing their loyal customers with ono Hawaiian and local foods. Alan is survived by wife Jeanette (Jeanie), children Andrea, Amy and Daniel, brother Phillip, and sister Gloria Dong. Celebration of Alan's life will be on Sunday, Dec. 1, at Waimanalo Hawaiian Homestead Community Center, 41 -253 Ilauhole St., Waimanalo, HI 96795. Visitation 1:00 pm, Services 2:30 pm.
